UNBROKEN provides financial assistance to connect children facing grief, trauma, and life's toughest challenges with meaningful equine experiences.

 

For more than 20 years as a police officer, I met children on some of the hardest days of their lives. We responded to the crisis, did what we could, and eventually drove away. But I often wondered what happened to those kids after the police cars were gone.

 

Years later, I walked into a riding arena and recognized an 11-year-old girl I had met during one of those difficult calls. But this time was different. No police cars. No flashing lights. No crisis. Just a child and a horse.

 

I watched her ride, smile, and grow more confident with every lap around the arena. For that hour, she wasn't defined by what had happened to her. She was simply a kid on a horse.

 

That moment stayed with me. It made me wonder how many other children might find confidence, connection, and hope if someone simply helped open the gate.

 

That is why UNBROKEN exists.
